Let your Toddler Explore the Cupboards
First place safe items in at least some of the bottom kitchen cupboards like pans/pots and lids, chopping board, trays, cake/pie tins, muffin/fairy cake trays, safe cooking utensils, plastic containers and lids and cans of food etc and obviously keep any dangerous items out of reach.This needs supervision but not necessarily interaction. There’s huge value in letting young children concentrate on exploring. If your toddler invites you, of course, go ahead and show interest and share your knowledge. Simply letting your toddler have access to safe bowls, boxes, tubs, pans/pots, tins, bags and safe items to transfer between containers. Provide an empty ice cube tray, muffin/fairy cake tray, another container with compartments or a cardboard egg box (which can be sterilised by microwaving for 30 secs). Provide a bowl of dry cereal, raisins or other finger food next to it. Ideally do toddler activities in a different place from where she normally eats, however it doesn’t matter if she just wants to eat the food though.
